NOW BOOKING FOR 2023
7-14 August 2023Contact Jóna:
This is an exciting new tour introduced to members interested in photography, and what better country in the world than Iceland for its otherworldly beauty and stark contrasts of naturte. From erupting volcanos and vast lava fields, expansive glacier (with Vatnajokull being the largest in Europe), raging glacial rivers and majestic basaltic columns. One can also find huge chasms from the continental rift system, thermal hot springs (with Deildartunguhver having the highest flow in Europe and water that emerges at 97°c), exploding geysirs named after the infamous Geysir and 200 officially named waterfalls, with Dettifoss being the largest in Europe at 100m wide and having a drop of 45m and fall of 193 cubic metres per second. This unique island also has an incredible diversity of landscapes, from towering mountains to beautiful blue glacial lagoons with receding glaciers, where huge ice floes break off into the lagoon and are then carried out by the tide, ending up stranded on black lava sand beaches or sat in the sea. Iceland’s pristine air means that the clarity for photography is perfect. Many advertisements are shot in Iceland and countless film crews have been sent to the country to produce a variety of TV series and films.
Our photographic tutor is Paul Edmunds ARPS, who has worked in the graphic arts industry for 40 years and has been a professional photographer for the last 21 years.
