I liked being able to have some free time in the places visited in order to shop for Icelandic wool and a jumper, and to visit the Settlement Museum, which was excellent. I loved the helicopter ride it was so exciting! To stand on the actual volcano was mind blowing! Thorstein was such a safe driver and Fanney was such an excellent guide; I was so impressed with how she got to know each of the group and her unfailing patience. I thought that our group was just the right size; we were all able to get to know each other, find out what we had in common and make friends. Thank you again, for my wonderful Iceland experience!”

The whole trip was exceedingly well organised and we felt we got a great understanding of the islands via the many visits to a wide range of locations and various aspects of island life. John and Robert were a great team guiding us round the islands and became part of the group. Their combined knowledge and good humour added greatly to our enjoyment. Robert had us all trained to return to the coach when he started the engine - just like Pavlov’s dogs! The hotels were very comfortable and the food was superb. “A few words to say thank you for an absolutely great holiday. It exceeded my expectations. You made us feel so welcome in your home. I really did feel “at home”. The food was excellent; your cooking, the girls meals and the meals out. The restaurant in St Vincent was a delight but so was the one in Aubeterre. The Basins des Lumiènes at Bordeaux blew my mind away. The Cite du Vin another amazing experience. We had read about both in French but seeing them was something else. Then there was a foodie day, nut oil and caviar and more history at Aubeterre and Brantôme. Did we do all of that and the market in 10 days?! Your selection gave us a great variety and a huge amount of interest. It was lovely too to have different drivers/guides; all special in their own ways. Thank you again.”

“All the holiday, and I mean ALL of the holiday, was so very enjoyable. Fanney the guide was very good in letting us stop at lots of places for photo stops. The balance between the coach ride and getting out to see the sights was just right. I was interested in the geology, which was why I wanted to come. So that was of course satisfying. I enjoyed the trip on the glacier, quite an experience! I also liked bathing in the geothermal bath. The museums were excellent, I particularly liked the Lava museum. The group of people all blended in well and I felt we were all friends by the end.”

“I really enjoyed staying in your lovely house and sleeping in your bedroom surrounded by all those beautiful and interesting things. I enjoyed all the activities, especially the nice, peaceful river trips. The château de Bourdeilles and the little Alfred de Vigny museum at the distillery made me very nostalgic as they took me back to things I learned about at uni and have hardly thought about since. Many thanks to you and the girls for looking after us so well, and all the group members were so kind and thoughtful too, ready to help and interesting to chat to. It was a really lovely break.”

“This was our first trip to Iceland and it didn’t disappoint! We couldn’t have been looked after better than we were by Fanney and Thorsteinn. Fanney is a wonderful guide, full of enthusiasm and information and very thoughtful and caring. Thorsteinn is an excellent driver and also very knowledgeable. His calm, competent driving made us all feel very safe, and if he said we weren’t going on a particular section of road, then we knew that it was the right decision. Make sure you keep them both in your team! We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights what a wonderful experience that was! Other highlights included the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, and two waterfalls – the Skógafoss and Goðafoss. We love the stunning scenery, and when the sun is shining and the land covered in a blanket of snow, you can’t beat it. The Reykjavik church is fabulous, and it’s nice to see a church that has been kept very simple inside – nothing ostentatious like some of the Catholic churches in southern Europe! Overall we loved the trip that you had put together and would thoroughly recommend it to anybody. We’d happily travel with you again!”

“The tour of Shetland and Orkney was amazing and even better than I had expected. This was definitely helped by the fine weather we enjoyed. John and Robert were great and had everything organised down to the last detail. They were also able to be flexible and arrange people’s special requests, like finding a ‘cake fridge’! “We can confirm we’ve had the most interesting and wonderful tour. John was a brilliant guide – so full of relevant detail, without overpowering us, and very careful to count we had all returned to the bus after the various stops. Robert, the driver, was also lovely, and we all understood if he started his engine, it was time to get on board. But this was always done with humour. The hotels and food were all well chosen. The variety of destinations were again well chosen, giving everyone an excellent perspective of past life and current life on the islands.
